Thanks to everyone who entered my contest and wished me a happy holiday. Hubby and I had a wonderful time. It was very relaxing and the days passed way too quickly.

Three people guessed the correct total of 18. I decided to put all three names in a hat and draw out one winner for my original prize of a print copy of Tea For Two and award the other two downloads of their choice.

The winner of Tea For Two is Elaine.
Eva S and Rachel M will receive a download of their choice.

Congratulations to all three winners!! (all winners have been contacted via email)

Here is the list of the books I read during my holiday.

1. Grady’s Awakening by Bianca D’Arc
2. Touching Midnight (MIRA) by Fiona Brand

Note: I can’t give you titles of the mystery books since I’m judging them in a contest.

I had a very happy time reading by the pool, and as you can see by the titles I mixed and matched genres very nicely. Some of the mystery books were historicals so I think I covered them all! My favorite read was Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione. This is book three in her series and if you like paranormals you should definitely try these books featuring demon brothers who work in a hospital for paranormal creatures.

Thanks for entering my contest!

First Physical Touch.

Snippet Saturday

This week’s theme is first physical touch. I had a slight problem with this one because most of the excerpts on my website cover the first kiss or touch, and I didn’t want to double up. In the end I chose a scene from Tea For Two, which is now out in print. It’s almost the first physical touch.

Tea For Two by Shelley MunroTEA FOR TWO by Shelley Munro

“Let’s go.” Sam slid from the booth without releasing her hand. True to his word, they didn’t see a single photographer, in fact they didn’t see anyone, apart from a couple standing close on the stairwell, who were more interested in each other than passersby.

Outside the pub, Sam hailed a black cab and half an hour later Hayley found herself standing in his Knightsbridge apartment. The door closed behind them with a soft click, a reminder of her foolhardy behavior. But Sam took her into his arms and she forgot her fears, sinking into the moment, the pleasure, letting go of her worries. His hands slid beneath the hem of her blouse. Warmth seared her bare skin, a moan of pleasure escaping when he spanned her waist. All he’d done was touch, but his stroking fingers sent pleasant jolts through her. Fairly innocent touches, but she couldn’t wait to get to the really good stuff. If this felt good, the rest would be dynamite. Sam unbuttoned her blouse with nimble fingers and slowly peeled it open to display her lace-covered breasts and bare stomach.

“Beautiful,” he whispered, brushing the back of his hand over one lace-clad nipple.

Tension filled Hayley but she released it with a slow breath, attracting his close attention. Immediately Hayley was pleased she’d succumbed to temptation and donned her good lingerie. Pale blue lace enhanced her curves much better than her everyday plain white cotton.

“Very beautiful,” Sam said, tracing the flesh at the edge of her bra with a delicate finger. “I can’t wait to taste.” The black blouse floated to the floor.

The glow in his eyes told her he meant it, pleasing her and allowing Hayley to drop the last of her reservations. She melted into his body, savoring the brush of breasts against his muscular chest. Her fingers slid through his hair, the silky texture tickling her palms as she clutched him to her. His masculine scent surrounded her, filled her lungs while his touch destroyed her and built her back up into a creature of pure sensation.

Somehow they found themselves in his bedroom with Hayley scarcely taking in the surroundings in the modern flat.

Sam released her to flick on a bedside lamp, bathing the room in a glow of light. A king-size bed dominated the room. Covered with a duvet in shades of blue—soft teal blue to aqua and navy—it reminded Hayley of the sea. A large window displayed the lights of the city spread out below them. The magical panorama drew her attention until the rustle of clothes attracted her eyes elsewhere. She turned in time to see Sam’s white T-shirt hit the ground.

Her breath caught at the sculpted muscles and golden expanse of flesh. Her fingers tingled with the need to touch, to explore some more. Hayley took half a step toward him before he stopped her with a grin.

“Oh, no, you don’t,” he said. “If I let you touch me, I’m going to lose grip on my control. It’s tenuous tonight. Let me touch you first, give you pleasure.”

Wide-eyed, she watched him, her hands dangling at her sides. Her breasts moved rapidly up and down. She realized she was panting and heat crawled across every inch of her body.

Sam prowled closer, his grin fading to intentness. Sudden nerves jumped in her belly, but she managed to remain still. He knelt in front of her and lifted her feet one at a time to slide off her shoes. Capable hands massaged one foot and traveled up her calf, skating across the delicate skin behind her knee. His fingers crept higher, over the sensitive skin of her inner thighs, teasing a gasp from her when his fingers met the bare flesh above the top of her thigh-high stockings.

“You’re so soft,” he said, lifting his head to look at her face. One finger slipped beneath the lace of her panties, teasing sensitive feminine folds. Sweetly invasive fingers skated across her aching clit, Sam watching her reaction the entire time. “And I love the stockings. The sexy lingerie.”

Hayley jumped at the flash of pleasure from his stroking fingers, and he chuckled, the rich sound bringing a new flare of warmth inside. She gasped, wishing he’d hurry, yet contrarily wanting him to maintain the slow pace so she had plenty of memories to savor in the future.

He stood in a fluid move, brushing his lips across hers while his hands blindly sought the button and zipper closure of her black skirt. Talented hands. The skirt slid away, leaving her standing in bra, panties and her thigh-high stockings.

“Stunning and beautiful,” he whispered, standing back to study her closely. Hayley quivered with the sizzle of arousal, and realized her previous boyfriend had done a number on her, belittling her generous curves because of his own lack of expertise. She’d never felt more turned on or more ready to take the next step. And it was all Sam—his appreciative, seductive words, his sensual touch.

“Do I get to see you?”

“Not yet, sweetheart. Let me unwrap you first. I want you hot and needy and desperate for me.”

Hayley gulped. “I am,” she confessed. “Your job is done.”

Out In Print!

I was cruising Amazon and Barnes & Noble earlier and it seems that Tea For Two is already instore and ready to purchase, a couple of weeks earlier than I thought.

Tea For Two

Here’s the blurb:

Lies and secrets have a way of returning to bite a girl in the butt…

Hayley Williams thought she was past the screwing-up stage of her life.
These days, she wears her good girl persona well—except when she moonlights as a gypsy tea leaf reader in order to earn money to buy her own home. There’s something about Sam Norville, though, that prods her inner imp back to life. A chance meeting, a margarita…okay, two…a stolen kiss, and suddenly she’s back in hot water.

Sam, a successful businessman, doesn’t believe in love at first sight. Not anymore. For him, involvement with any woman means risking a run-in with the tabloid press. But his mysterious gypsy lover keeps him coming back, keeps him prodding her for more…like the truth. Of course it’s not love. No, sir. Sam only does lust.

Hayley knows she shouldn’t want Sam, especially since she lied to him. The right thing to do? Shove that naughty imp off her shoulder and come clean. But that pesky imp just won’t budge…

Warning: There be lies and secrets ahead, wrapped in pretty bows with margaritas, a one-night stand, fortune telling and a gypsy. Oh, and tea. Lots and lots of pots of tea.

Find an excerpt here.

Go forth and shop! Have a great weekend.

Lies, Secrets, Hot Sex

I had lots of fun making this trailer for my book Tea For Two. My hubby thought I was very clever, but I have to be honest and say it wasn’t difficult once I worked out what I was doing.

Tea For Two is coming out in print on 1 August and is available for pre-order now. Enjoy the movie!

5 Heart Sweetheart Award

I was very excited to learn TEA FOR TWO won the 5 Heart Sweetheart award from The Romance Studio this week.

Tea for Two This week’s 5 Heart Sweetheart…

“Ms. Shelley Munro is quickly becoming a must read author. I enjoy her style and her approach to her varied plots. These two main characters were certainly no exception. The storyline was full of secrets (from both Hayley and Sam). The more time the couple spent together, the less likely it became that Sam would buy into his family’s theory that Norville’s fell in love at first sight. Ms. Munro has such an appealing way of revealing her story that it is impossible to put down the book.” – Brenda Talley.

Thanks so much to The Romance Studio and all the readers who voted for Tea For Two!

Fringe Benefits.

Fringe Benefits is out today!! Readers have been asking me about this book ever since I put it up on my coming soon page. Buy your copy at Ellora’s Cave today. I need every penny or cent you want to spend because that’s the only way I’ll get another trip to the US in the near future.

I’m blogging at Access Romance All-A-Blog today. There’s a chance to win a download of either Lovers at Last or Price of Love. Come over and say hello.

JERR asked to interview me recently, and my interview appears in the 16 Nov issue of their newsletter. If you write or read erotic romance and don’t know about JERR’s newsletter you’re missing out! Here’s the link to their website. Details of how to join the newsletter are on their site.

After an anxious wait, I received a review for Tea For Two this week. The reviewer said, “This is the perfect story to curl up with on a cold winter’s night, add a glass of wine, some music, and lose yourself in the ups and downs as star crossed lovers discover their soul mates. This is such a fabulous story, and I look forward to reading more stories written by this amazing author. Kudos, Ms. Munro!”
Here’s the link to the full review.

And finally, the writing is going really well. I’ve cranked out a lot of words this week, and all going well, I should have my first draft done at the end of next week. This is the first time I’ve worked to a synopsis for ages, and it’s certainly a good way of keeping on track. I enjoy writing the first draft. I think it’s the creating and allowing my imagination to wander wherever it likes. Sometimes plotting too much freezes my brain, but this time, it’s all good, and I’ve even done a few fancy steps that aren’t in the synopsis.

How has your week gone? If you’re working on NaNo, how are you going?

Calling Mr. Hero

I’ve read two great posts about characters/heroes over the last two days. At Romancing the Blog Heather Massey talks about a hero’s appearance versus his personality.

Over at The Novelty Girls Jennifer Leeland talks about celebrities and how she uses their pictures for character inspiration.

When it comes to characters I do the less is more thing. My character descriptions are very sparse, and often I need to go back and “color them in” a bit more. I never use pictures. My characters pop fully formed from inside my head. Heck, they’re probably pleased to leave because it’s so crowded in there! 99% of my heroes come from the tall, dark and sexy group. I think I’ve written one blond hero in ten years.

When I’m reading a book, I never like to know too much. The hero is tall, dark and sexy inside my head, no matter what the author writes. And the heroine – well, heck – funnily enough, she looks just like me.

Do you like the author to write lots of detail so the hero is easy to visualize? Or do you belong to the less is more category? Does the character’s personality count more than his appearance to you, the reader? Do you like to have a picture or photo – a visual – when you’re writing?

Final note: Tea For Two is out at Samhain Publishing today. Woohoo!!

I’m blogging at the Samhain blog today about Tasseomancy (tea leaf reading) and I’m at Jennifer’s Random Musings again.

Interviews!

Just a quick post today since I’m in full writing mode.

I have a new interview at The Romance Studio featuring Tea For Two. Here’s the link.

I also have an interview and contest over at Jennifer’s Random Musings. I’m talking about Tea For Two here as well. Could it be that Tea For Two is out on 14 October?

Oh, and speaking about Aussies…
Denise Rossetti has a post about Budgie Smugglers. Don’t know what they are? Check her post and don’t forget to view the YouTube I mention in the comments. It shows the concept of Budgie Smugglers very well.
