My photo this week was taken at the Kona Seahorse Farm in Hawaii. Those elegant fingers are mine.
I love seahorses and think they’re the coolest creature. They fascinate me. Besides, any species where the male has the babies is doing the right thing.

We saw this dog while we were walking in Vava’u, Tonga. He craned his neck to see us and seemed to be guarding this partially built house. He looked a bit like a devil dog with his glowing eyes.

We saw these fish at a stall in Bora Bora. I don’t suppose these tuna are exactly happy fish, but they were certainly eye catching.

My hubby went out with his brother on his boat this weekend. He took this photo of a shag drying its feathers at the marina.

Hubby and I wandered down to the local school to check out their gala day. I snapped this shot of a miniature pony and a Great Dane puppy because it made me laugh. I actually had trouble getting a decent shot because people got in the way. The pony wanted to hide under the trailer while the Great Dane wanted to sleep. They are definitely “The Odd Couple.”

During our last visit to the farm, my father had a hen and several chickens that had hatched recently. They were awfully difficult to photograph and kept moving. This is a closeup of one of the chicks. The white on the right of the photo is the hen’s breast.

I took this shot of a sun bear at Wellington Zoo. They’re called sun bears because of the creamy round sun shape on their upper chest. (You can’t see it in this shot) They come from the Southern Asia region.

Mr. Munro took this photo at the Auckland zoo. When we visited Africa we saw quite a few hippos. We stayed at one camping ground by a waterhole where they came out at night and grazed by our tents. The hippo is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, and the worst thing you can do is to get between a hippo and water or a hippo and its offspring.

This photo of two otters playing was taken at Bear Country in South Dakota. They were having a fine old time and enjoying the sun.

“Careful! Watch the knot. Do I have to go to work today?”

“Can’t we go faster?”

“Ah! Dinner time at last.”

“And maybe time for a snooze.”

These photos were taken at our local farmers’ market where they give pony rides to the children. To visit more animal photos follow the links at Camera Critters.
