I took this photo at the Wellington zoo. This is an elderly chimp and all she wanted was to eat her treats in peace. Thursday, May 5th, 2011
Two weeks ago when I had trouble deciding on a TT topic, Darla Sands suggested I did one on animals because I do a Camera Critter every Saturday. I thought it was a good idea and below are animal photos–mostly ones I’ve taken, although my hubby took a couple of them. Thirteen Animal Photographs 1. A duck and her ducklings stopped traffic when they crossed a Wellington street. 2. Puppy Bella all tuckered out. Now I can do some writing! 3. A day out at the Agricultural show is really tiring! 4. A very relaxed looking starfish in Samoa. 5. Rodeo! This is the Cody Nite Rodeo, a setting I used in Seeking Kokopelli. 6. I really want to get some alpacas. We saw this one at the Sydney Royal Easter show. 7. We visited a seahorse farm in Kona, Hawaii. It was fascinating. 8. Elephant riding in Phuket, Thailand. 9. Thursday, my sister’s kitten. Unfortunately, she became ill and died about a month after I took this photo. 10. A sun bear at the Wellington zoo. 11. A moose near the Grand Tetons. 12. My father’s horse, Arizona and her foal, Bugs. My father is 81 and still rides Arizona. 13. Sperm Whale near Kaikoura. (Kaikoura is not far from where the earthquake struck). This shot was taken from a plane. Saturday, April 30th, 2011
We snapped this shot during a visit to the Grand Canyon. This squirrel looked as if he was sightseeing and enjoying the view the same as us. To view more animal shots visit Camera Critters Saturday, April 16th, 2011
I took this photo in Egypt near the St Simeon Monastery. This camel definitely had an attitude. I think he’s trying to tell his owner he wants a day off. What do you think? To view more animal photos visit Camera Critters. Saturday, April 9th, 2011
This week my Camera Critter is an elephant seal. We stopped at Point Piedras Blancas when driving from Monterey down the Big Sur in the US. The male elephant seals look really weird with their “trunks”. They’re definitely not attractive animals. They hang around the beach with harems of females and fight each other. The seal pups are often crushed by the adults who are very large. They’re unpredictable in behavior–definitely not animals to approach on the beach. We kept a healthy distance! I’m busy with edits. Here’s a pretty photo of Mt Maunganui, New Zealand (The Mount for short) for you to study meanwhile. The Mount is another dormant volcano. Hubby and I climbed to the top in December and took this photo of the surf beach. The views are stunning from the top and include the Pacific Ocean, the city of Tauranga and the surrounds. The built-up area below is Mt Maunganui township. The area is very busy during Christmas/New Year summer holidays. Saturday, April 2nd, 2011
Hubby and I took this photo of a mountain goat not far from Mt. Rushmore. Mountain goats are not true goats, but are really goat-antelopes. They inhabit alpine areas and are very nimble, able to jump up to twelve feet in one leap. This was one of a group, and they were busy drinking the water trickling down the face of a cliff. I took this photo out at my father’s farm last weekend. This photo features a stallion, two mares and two foals. One foal is hiding behind the other one. The stallion (named Fred) is on the far left. To see more animal photos visit Camera Critters Monday, February 21st, 2011
