Standing Tall

Camera Critters

My animal this week is a giraffe. This particular photo was taken in Kenya, I think at Samburu National Park. We were also able to visit the giraffe center near Nairobi during a different trip. I still remember feeding the giraffes. It was amazing, although their tongues were sort of sticky! If you’d like to see a photo of me feeding a giraffe, follow the photos link above to take you to some of my other photos.

Keeping to the Whale Theme

Camera Critters

Photobucket

I decided to keep to the whale theme of my Snippet Saturday post below, and my animal shot for this week’s Camera Critters is a breaching humpback whale. This shot was taken in Alaska a few years ago. The humpback whales are amazing creatures and can be very curious, coming right up to the boat and doing lots of spyhopping to see what the strange humans are doing. I’ve been lucky enough to see them in the Southern hemisphere as well, and highly recommend the experience should you ever get a chance to go whale watching.

Bear Necessities

Camera Critters

Photobucket

This photo was taken at Bear Country in South Dakota. We wanted to make sure we saw plenty of bears and this is a black bear. As well as bears we saw bison, moutain lions, and otters to mention a few. To visit other Camera Critters go here.

Rhino, Chitwan National Park

Camera Critters

Photobucket

This week’s photo for Camera Critters is a rhino mother and baby, taken in Chitwan National Park, Nepal. We rode elephants into the park and were able to get quite close to the one-horned rhinoceros, which is an endangered species. I badly wanted to see a tiger, but we weren’t lucky enough on this trip. We did see a sloth bear, which was very exciting and seeing the rhinos was amazing. They’re a bit weird in appearance and look as if they’re wearing a suit of armor.

Camera Critters Meme

When I did my Thursday Thirteen rounds this week, I came across a new meme called Camera Critters. People post a photo of any type of animal. I thought, I can do that. I have lots of critter photos and I love animals. My photo is posting a day late because of my Snippet Saturday post, but do go and check out the links. There are lots of wonderful animal photos to check out.

This photo is taken in the Western Desert of Egypt. We went for a camel ride, and I have to say it’s the most enjoyable camel ride I’ve ever taken. We ambled along with the herd of mothers and baby camels (calves?). The babies were tres cute! I wanted to take one home, although I don’t think my neighbors would appreciate a camel in our backyard.
