Springtime, Coffice and Quirks

Cyclamens

Succulent

Spring is in the air down this end of the world. I love this time of the year with all the spring blooms. The top photo is of some of our cyclamens, and the bottom photo is of a succulent.

I went off to one of my favorite coffices this morning. It was early, not long after seven. I ordered my coffee and fired up my laptop, ready to start work.

“Hello,” a voice chirped from my left.

I looked up, brain a little sluggish since it was early.

“The court case went well,” the man said.

“Oh,” I said, suddenly clicking. It was the man from Adventures in the Coffice story. “I’m glad it went well,” I said.

He finished his coffee, said a cheery goodbye and went on his way. I tell you, I have some very interesting times in my coffice.

Author Roni Loren had an interesting post about writers and quirks this week. She asks if quirky writing habits equal greatness.

I don’t think I have any quirky writing habits. Maybe writing in a coffice qualifies, but apart from that I think my writing routine is fairly straightforward. I don’t write in exercise books or use a special pen or play ten games of solitaire before writing.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? Any quirky habits at all?

I do several quirky things for some reason.

The most weird I think is I buy packages of gauze and medical tape and bandaids all the time. I’ve cut back on the buying of bandaids because I have so much medical gauze and medical tape I feel safe knowing that if a medical emergency comes up and I need to cover a scrape or wound I have the stuff to do it.

Right now I have 66 rolls of medical gauze and 15 rolls of medical tape. I don’t know why I feel compelled to do this but it came in very handy first when my husband jumped over a wall and fell..breaking his arm to the point her had to have surgery last year. I had all the gauze and tape needed to change his bandages and when I had a cyst removed from my shoulder last year I had enough gauze and tape to change the bandages each day while it healed. I guess I just like being prepared. lol

LOL Mary – you’re prepared if someone wants to dress as a mummy too. I shouldn’t laugh because I can never find bandages or guaze when I need them!

How neat that your coffice guy updated you on his court case. You have like separate ‘other’ life at your coffice.

It was nice that the story had a happy ending. I only hope the man truly repents and keeps on the straight and narrow path!

Those are some lovely flowers. I think it is cool you have interesting coffice people.

They’re entertaining, Savannah. I never know what each day in the coffice will bring.

I love that succulent. And I’m jealous you’re having spring. End of summer heat is pounding us here. I wish we could go straight from fall to spring.

I have some quirks, but none of them are of the regular, must-do, type.

My husband took the photo of the succulent.
The light is gorgeous in this photo.

Spring? I can’t wrap my mind around that right now. Those flowers are beautiful.

I thought we might miss the spring flowers since we’re off on holiday, but they’ve popped out in the last week. The scent in the garden is gorgeous.

Those succulents are very cool looking. We’re nearing fall here, which means Hayfever Hell. I’ll trade you ragweed for your cyclamens. ;-)

Heather, you have my sympathies. Hay fever is no fun at all.

That flower, the succulent, is aptly named and ripe for a story. I can just feel it :-)

So, got an update about that court case. Well, that was nice of him to keep you posted.

I’m not sure I have any quirks. Does that mean I am not destined for greatness? I sure hope not. I kinda like being my plain-Jane-anime-loving self who types at a tiny desk or while fighting sleep in bed. lol!!

Angela, I think it would work into a story well. It could be anything – food, power, an object of magic or beauty.

I have a similar quirk… I love going to write at my local coffee joint… best place to just write with no distractions.
