My theme for Thursday Thirteen this week comes from a discussion on my local radio station. A female announcer said it irked her when people said to her, “Oh, you’re just a mother.”
She said and, from my observations, I agree that mothers wore many hats. There was no “JUST” about it.
Here follows a list of some of the hats that mothers wear.
Thirteen Job Descriptions Synonymous with Mother
- Cook
- Laundress
- Chauffeur
- Referee
- Housemaid
- Teacher
- Events Manager
- Party Planner
- Photographer
- Cashier
- Dishwasher
- Nurse
- Monster Slayer
What additional hats do you wear as mother?

I’m not a mom, unless you count ‘dog mommy’.
But one of my jobs is poop-picker-upper. Hubby won’t clean up anything that smells.
…men.

Funny that, Maria. Somehow I’ve ended up with the poop job too.

Great post! I’d add– table bus-person and personal shopper, and possibly gardener, guidance counselor, maintenance engineer and personal assistant.
I want a Monster Slayer t-shirt too.

It’s the Events Manager part of the job description that my family leans on me the most for. Once they figured out that I couldn’t let the others know what someone was doing if they didn’t tell me, they all got very good about telling me what’s up.

LOL – I imagine events manager could be tricky at times.

I would also add..
Coach
Nutritionist
Secretary
The first one’s up and the last to go to bed…

This is great! I would add “librarian / personal reader” (requiring the talent of providing many different voices for each book!). Guidance counselor, as someone said above. Guru / life coach!
