Things That Are Green

Thursday Thirteen

Today I was pondering this week’s Thursday Thirteen. The first word that came to my mind was green. A perfect topic, I decided, and I started my list.

Thirteen Things That Are Green

1. Emeralds – much prettier than diamonds in my opinion.

2. Limes – perfect for cooking and adding to drinks.

3. Shrek – the most famous ogre of all.

4. Greenland – green in name but not in nature.

5. Kermit – my favorite muppet (apart from Miss Piggy) from The Muppet Show

6. Jealousy – an emotion that’s often called green.

7. Grass – good for cows.

8. Green Eggs and Ham – of Dr. Seuss fame.

9. Ireland – the Emerald Isle.

10. Guacamole – avocado goodness

11. Green Park – one of London’s many Royal parks

12. Greenwich, London – the home of Greenwich Mean Time or GMT

13. The theme color for my website and blog – explore and wallow in the green.

What are your favorite green things? Do you have anything green to add to my list?

Some great greens, though I admit my favourite Muppet is Animal.

    How about kiwis? Mmm.

Ireland was the first thing I thought of when I saw your topic. I hope to visit there someday.

Well, green happens to be my least favorite color. I think it looks best outside where it’s supposed to be ie. grass, leaves, etc
    Fun list though. Happy T13!

Robin – I thought of kiwi fruit. Another one is green tea.

Adelle – the great outdoors does look nice in all its greenery.

Anthony – I’d forgotten about Animal. He always made me laugh, but I still like Miss Piggy. she had such a great attitude.

The first thing that came to my mind were the Jolly Green Giant and his sidekick Sprout, who tried to convince kids vegetables were good.

And, of course, there’s always the group Green Day.

I was once told that emeralds are more coveted than diamonds.

    Have a great day!

Heather – Ooh, I didn’t think of Green Day.

The Jolly Green Giant and his sidekick Sprout must be an American thing since we don’t have them down here in NZ.

Your list has me craving guacamole. Green makes me think of trees. I love trees.

    I loooove green.

I’m a fan of emeralds, too. I also like malachite and peridot, both of which are green.

I’m in a red frame of mind because of Canada Day (Land of the Maple Leaf and all that.)

But green – makes me think of the Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz, beautiful green moss in the woods, feathery ferns, dark fir trees. Enjoyed your colour-based Thursday Thirteen, Shelley!

Inez – pickles is an excellent addition. There’s peppers and chillis as well.

Jehara – I like trees too. They’re nice to look at and make music when it’s windy.

Elise – more good additions. There’s also New Zealand greenstone.

Julia – I noticed your red list. I like lacy ferns too.

Great list! Got to agree about emeralds. To me they have a much higher WOW factor than diamonds.

My favorite green thing is my husband’s eyes (or should that be things are?) :)

    Thanks and Happy T13!!!

Green is my favorite color. I would much rather have an emerald than a diamond any day. And what would my G & T be without the lime?

Great list of green things. I love green because my eyes are green…well they are when my pupils aren’t so big you can see them…lol

So I wear some green shirts and blouses to make my eyes more green…or at least look more green.

Oh, too fun. On RD I thought “I went green this week” meant you were posting something to do with the environment. I really enjoyed the light subject and emeralds are my favorite gem.

Spinach! My favorite vegetable. Rachel Ray actually has a recipe for Green Eggs and Ham — the Green is Pesto!
