Fidgeting: It’s Good News

Most of the Wii Fitness games–Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Active and Your Shape include fitness tips. One of the tips on Your Shape mentioned Fidgeting. Fidgeting is when a person is uneasy or restless and they move their limbs in a nervous manner.

Did you know fidgeting is good? If you’re a fidgeter, you use up to 700 calories per day. I’m not usually a fidgeter, but I think I might change my ways.

Do you fidget?

Don’t forget the scavenger hunt to win a blue Sony reader. Here’s the link to the contest details at the Samhellion blog. The contest closes on 31 December 2009.

I fidget sometimes but I don’t see the 700 calorie burn. Or maybe that’s due to the consumption of food I really shouldn’t eat.

I’m a big time fidgeter so that might account for something :)

Also, you burn more calories standing than sitting which I also do a lot. I think I’m turning into my grandmother – she never could sit still and if ever we got her to stop and sit still she would fall asleep! (me too)

Jaime, one thing with the Wii is that it shows you how many calories you burn off while exercising. I can exercise for an hour and only burn off three hundred calories. It makes you realize how much we do tend to overeat these days. I mean society in general.

Jenyfer – that’s funny! The falling asleep, I mean. My husband is always having catnaps. He falls asleep whenever he sits in his chair.

Fidgetng at bedtime is a family trait, all five of my siblings, my Dad, and I shake our legs until we fall asleep.
