I’m like you, never read reviews until they were talking about my books. Now I read them when friends share theirs, or when I hear rumor of a horrible review. I don’t usually let them influence my purchasing, but I look for comments about what they like and don’t like about a book. It helps me fine tune my writing.

I love reading reviews and sometimes…writing them when I really like a book. it’s not often I write one because others can do it so much better.

But I do read reviews.

I don’t usually go by the reviews, Shelley. I know it is opinion. Rather, I tend to follow an author. If she/he is new, I’ll check out the work and if I like it, I know I will like most other books the author has written.

Wonderful reviews. People have different tastes, so I rarely pay attention to reviews. I will give any book a chance if it looks interesting. Wordless Wednesday

Thanks for sharing. That’s awesome that Charlaine Harris is doing a forward for your story. I don’t let a bad review dissuade me from getting a book I want. But a good review (or more accurately a slew of good reviews around the book blogosphere) will get me intrigued and I’ll usually get the novel.

Word of mouth is always the best recommendation for me. If my family & friends say a book is good & to read it, I will.
