Hubby and I went shopping on Saturday and added to our Wii collection. We’re now the proud owners of Wii Personal Trainer and also a Fitness Coach since the shop was having a sale. Sales are very dangerous things! Hubby has been muttering about his sore quads for the last two days. Today I set up the Fitness Coach and entered all my personal details. I’m working on upper body strength. I did fine until the perky fitness coach got to push ups. Problem. I can’t do them.
Yes, it’s true. I’m a whiny weakling who can’t do a proper push up to save myself. I have to do the cheats ones, and even they’re hard work. You can bet I was muttering by the time I was finished. I only did a 15 minute workout because I didn’t want to end up like hubby with really sore muscles. At the end of the workout, the perky fitness coach announced I’d used 90 calories.
Whoop-dee-doo! A whole 90 calories. For an instant I wondered why I’d bothered. I mean, I learned I can’t do push ups, and there’s little gain for all that pain. I’ll probably do the right thing though, and keep going. Heck, maybe I’ll even graduate to real push ups…
Can you do push ups?

I cannot do push ups and do not have a Wii but am giving it some serious thought. It does sound very intriguing.

I really really hate push ups too

I never could do them, even when I was young and fit. I don’t have strong arms.

I started doing Boot Camp at the hoity-toity health club and you know what? I learned to do push-ups. One thing the trainer said — and it does help — is to wrap your shoulder blades back when you’re in the push-up position. It’s also good to help reinforce posture.
Hang in there and keep working!

I can’t do the regular push ups just the sissy ones. I was doing them every day and some personal things happened. I’m debating on starting my exercise plan again. I know I need to. It’s just motivating myself to just do it. Have a great day.

I could before I got pregnant, LOL! I’ve lost my abdominals due to surgery and stretching. I’ll get them back in the fall though.
I’m sure my Wii Fit coach will be very mad at me when I climb back on.

Only cheaty ones… About 20 yrs ago, I used to lift weights semi-professionally and was in amazing condition. *sigh* Those were the days.
And, 90 calories? That’s not even half a candy bar.

Debby – I figured the Wii worked out cheaper than going to the gym. I’ve been playing tennis for the last three weeks and my jeans are definitely looser! That’s got to be good.
JK – I’m not ready to give up yet. You’ll hear me cheer when I manage a few real push ups.

Lucinda – my upper body strength is lacking too. That’s why I decided to work on it. Hopefully I’ll improve.
Susan – okay. I’ll try that. Good posture is always a good thing.

Debra – I hate to tell you but if you get personal trainer you’re in for a world of pain. At first. It does get better though!!
Roberta – I always feel better if I exercise, even though the motivation factor is difficult at times. With the Wii, winter weather isn’t a good excuse. I can’t wriggle out of doing my exercise if it’s raining.

Amy – those fitness coaches make me shudder a bit. They can be very strict and scary! I hope baby James is doing well.

Marianne – that’s what I thought about the 90 calroes. I mean – a few cups of coffee and I’m back to zero.
Professional weightlighting? Wow. That would get you fit.

Savannah – Hubby and I held out for quite a while, but we’re having so much fun. Hubby gets up early and plays tennis before he goes to work. He woke me up this morning, excited because he cracked the 600 point level and won three sets. He’s so funny.
Annetta – My situps aren’t so bad. I find those easier. I suspect it’s a case of persevering until it becomes easier. You wait until your kidlet gets to toddler stage. I’m sure that will give you plenty of exercise!

Beth – the fitness ones are lots of fun, despite my grumbles. Just don’t get carried away like hubby and do too much at first. You’ll end up paying for that!!

I can do a few, but I’m not one of those who can haul off and give you twenty! We do have a Wii but don’t have any of the fitness products yet… Now I’m scared to try… ;)

Even when I was my most fit and doing hours of karate every day, push ups killed me. And 90 calories. Don’t you just hate it when they are so perky about that?

No, I can’t/won’t do push ups. I remember in high school when we had to wear those ugly one-piece blue uniforms with short sleeves. There I’d be, down on the floor with the gym teacher walking past my head repeatedly, always pretending I’d just finished a push up. I’m sure she knew better. I also can’t touch my toes. I keep saying I’m going to measure my arms to see if they’re too short for my height (I’ve read that your height should equal your “wing span”), as I have really long legs. THAT would explain why I can’t touch my toes, wouldn’t it? At least that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it! Okay, okay. I went and measured. My wing span “says” I should be 5’7″ and I’m 5’10″. Whew! But what’s my excuse for not doing pushups???
