They're amazing creatures. Amy - that sounds amazing. I've gone whale watching at Hervey Bay quite a few times. The whale watching is usually really good there. They were curious about us and were still dropping in for a visit in 1997 when I left the Timor Sea. The water is crystal clear and they used to swim through the gap between our bow and the spar buoy (about forty feet). I always took time off when they arrived and watched them until they disappeared, usually an hour or two later.
