:roll:I swear I must lived in Egypt in a past because of the draw it has on me. I had a friend who vacationed there and told me MUST haves were a floppy hat, a giant bottle of Aloe Verde (for sunburns and burns off the rough camel hair) and again a GIANT tub of wipes to clean salt for my foreheads to keep out of my eyes.

For me, given the basics, my three essentials: camera and film (yeah, I'm one of the old-fashioned ones!); my personal pharmacy; and comfortable shoes. Unfortunately, with all the sand outside of the Nile basin, my precious flip-flops wouldn't do!! Maybe a book or two, but I would assume that there would be english-language bookstores in the cities where I could pick a few up to carry along. No sense in carrying extra weight over that you have to pay through the nose for! Wait and do that on the way home!!

Later,

I can't wait. My niece live in Cario for 3 years so I will consult with her on what to bring. It just sounds so fantastic. I've never been out of the country so I am looking forward to this great adventure.

I must take deodorant, I would perspire like crazy in the heat, water purifying tablets & deliciously light cool cotton clothing. Again with the perspiring & the heat. I want to enjoy all the sights in relative comfort.

Three things? Well water is the most important. Next would be food. And third would be an emergency medical kit. Those are the basics right?
For 3 unimortant things that I would just want to take along, I would take my camera, a combination sunblock/insect repellent and 3rd would be a personal portable air conditioning unit that you wear around the neck.

I've always wanted to visit Egypt. For me, I would bring my latest cellphone (its awesome, with video, camera, internet, reader - the lot!), exra batteries for the phone ('cos I don't think there is an outlet somewhere for me to charge my phone!) and my sketchbook! :o)Tamsyn
