JK – I agree. It’s all in the execution. I’ve read some terrific vampire stories and some that didn’t work for me at all. It’s the same with demons. I have to admit that demons have grown old for me a bit more quickly, although I still read a few. Like Kaye, I look for something a bit different.

Nancy – I still read both types of story. What made your demon story so difficult?

Kaye – thank you! I’ll admit that I’m much pickier these days when it comes to paranormal titles. I still love the genre, but I find myself reading contemporaries and historicals in between – way more than I used to.

Suzanne – you’re very welcome! It’s funny about vampires. I resisted reading them for the longest time because I didn’t like the thought of blood. I do read them now, but I’m picky about what I read.

I think demons are the new vampires. I keep saying I’m sick of vampires, but I keep buying vampire romances.

I’m written demon heroes. It’s very difficult. One of the most challenging novels I’ve ever done. I don’t know if vampires would be easier or not.

From someone who writes demons, I have to say that I really love a well written vampire :)

I also think that it’s very difficult to create paranormal beings that have never been done before. We’re always going to see something that’s a variation of some other creature, whether it be a kind of animal shifter or were, a twist on the vampire or the demon…

But really, it doesn’t matter what kind of spin you put on the biology of the characters, I think it’s always the story itself that makes the read fresh or tired.

As for vampires and demons. I think it depends on the story, but I have always been a vampire fan.

I like different heroes in my paranormal reads. I’get tired of the same thing. Even demons are becoming over done. I don’t know– something new and fresh maybe?
