Adventures at the Mall

I spent the afternoon at my favorite mall today and met up with a friend for lunch, a glass of wine and some chatter. Before I met my friend, I did some quick shopping.

Lingerie. I love the stuff, but I’ve been a good girl and haven’t splurged for a while. I had a gift certificate burning a hole in my wallet and since there was a sale, I figured I couldn’t go wrong. I couldn’t believe how expensive everything was, even with thirty per cent off. Still, I managed to purchase a bra and matching panties in a pretty blue that looks good with my eyes. It was fun lingerie shopping, although I’m still reeling at the rising prices.

I also visited the Body Shop. The service is always good at the Body Shop and the assistant offered to help me straight away. I wanted to browse and politely told her so, but she kept talking and trying to sell me stuff. She was very pushy and I wasn’t impressed at all. I never thought I’d say it, but there is such a thing as being too helpful.

When was the last time you purchased lingerie? Is it a fun experience for you? Have you experienced the pushy, over-helpful shop assitant before?

It’s been a couple months for me. I love getting new lingerie, but hate trying bras on. I’m very picky, lol.

As for the pushy shop assistant, I must be shopping at the wrong place, because they are not helpful enough! They have stopped running to get you a different size/style, so I have to get all the way dressed, go find it myself, and repeat the whole thing again.

I’ll be honest I hate shopping for lingerie. I’m more a sports bra type of gal.

The pushy assistant would probably have not liked what I would have said. If you politely tell them you are just looking, that means I’m just looking NOT buying. Sometimes asking for the manager can resolve the situation quit nicely.

    Have a great day.

ug I hate pushy assistants. It puts me right off shopping. As for lingerie I love all those pretty things but really hate shopping for bras. I need new ones and keep putting it off!!!

The pushy salespeople can bug but I worked retail for years so I understand where they’re coming from. I hate the pushing their store credit card bit at the register – UGH. I really hate that.

And it’s been a while since I’ve shopped for lingerie. I think I’m due.

I’ll leave a store if the salespeople are pushy. That drives me crazy. As for lingerie, I think it’s been over a decade since I purchased anything new, LOL, and that was at one of those lingerie parties at a friend’s house. Have you been to one of those? I think I puchased some nipple nibble cream, too

Sad… I don’t go out of my way to buy sexy things. I think once my kids are grown and out of the house I’ll consider buying something to match my eyes. LOL

As for pushy people, tell them you’re getting over the swine flu (cough, cough) and that you SHOULDN’T be contagious any more.
That should give you some elbow room!

The last time I was at a lingerie shop was about a year ago. How sad is that? LOL
The hubby and I were on a weekend getaway together…

Hey, you guys definitely need to go lingerie shopping.

Everyone should have lingerie to match their eyes and other sexy stuff as well.

Helen – I’ve been to one of those lingerie parties. Fun!

Normally, I would have left the store and the pushy assistant behind but I knew exactly what I wanted and was in and out fairly quickly. The woman drove me nuts with her hard-sell chatter and hovering though.

Ah the shop assistant. I used to be that person. It helps if you know that the store you’re in doesn’t pay commission to its sales staff and instead an hourly rate.

JK – In NZ all shop staff are paid wages. I can understand attentive service where commission is involved, but there’s a happy medium. This woman was annoying and I left the shop feeling irritated.

I’m not going to touch that one, lol! But I have encountered pushy clerks before…
(Really, I do like buying cute stuff, but I hate the high prices too.)

The last time I went lingerie shopping at that upscale store, you know, the one that starts with a V, I couldn’t believe the prices, either. But I was interested in something in the line of corsets because I’ve been reading a lot of historical romance books and wanted to know why the allure of such a contraption. Anyway, they did not offer much in that area. So my trip was a dud, and as to the pushy sales person, they just ignored me. oh well.

Armenia – I love the way corsets look, too, although I’m not sure how comfortable they’d be. I know there are some great online sites that sell corsets. I had a NZ site URL somewhere. They’re beautiful but expensive because all the boning etc takes time to make.
