When I used to work in an office and at the bank I wore makeup – usually the full works. These days I’m lucky if I manage lipstick. I always wear a moisturiser, and I choose one with a SP15 or more. The New Zealand climate is pretty unforgiving and a sunscreen is necessary during summer and winter. I have freckles popping out like…like… Actually I’m not sure what to compare these cheeky freckles with but there’s a lot of them.
I don’t even use perfume these days, preferring scented body lotions instead – namely Body Shop’s Body Butter. It’s my favorite.
I put on lipstick, tinted moisteriser and brushed on a mineral type powder when I went to the mall on Saturday. The lipstick tasted funny, and when I thought about it, I decided I’d had it for a while. It’s way past time for me to go through my makeup and toss most of it because it’s old!
I came across this online article about choosing a foundation. I thought it was quite helpful so I’m adding the link for you all to check out.
Do you wear makeup, and if so, which products do you use on a regular basis? If you had to choose one item of makeup to wear, what would it be? (Let’s say you’re on a desert island or some place similar)
Helen Hardt was nice enough to invite me to visit her blog. My interview is up today. Here’s the link to my interview about Currents Run Deep. Thanks, Helen!

I always use sun block as my moisturiser, I feel naked without it. The foundation I use also has a sun block in it (can’t be too careful!!) So, if I was on a desert island I’d take anything with an inbuilt sunblock!!!

I don’t wear makeup except for once in a blue moon, or if we’re going out in the evening. Otherwise, it’s just moisturizer and lip gloss for me :)

I like Cover Girl. I know, it’s drug store stuff, but it does the trick. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but when I do, it’s usually foundation, tinted lip balm, mascara, and a bit of liner.
My fave lip balm of all time is Burt’s Bees, and they have gorgeous tinted ones.

Thanks for blogging with me today, Shelley!
I have to tell you — I hate makeup. The irony is when I was younger I wore a ton. Now all I wear is lipstick unless I’m going out in the evening, in which case I wear lipstick, mineral powder foundation, and blush. No mascara and eyeshadow. But I ALWAYS wear a moisturizer with sunscreen. I’m pale as a ghost, never tan, just burn, burn, burn, so I’m religious about sunscreen. Here in Colorado, we’re a mile closer to the sun so it’s a necessity.

Hello Shelley,
I’ve stopped wearing makeup unless it’s for a special occasion. I still use my lotions and any anti-aging products I can get a hold of. If I could only chose one item of makeup, it would have to be a lip balm of some sort. Have a great day.

I don’t wear much makeup on a daily basis anymore. When I do put it on I keep it simple. Lately with my allergies, I can’t wear any eye makeup! It runs off! (teary eyes, it sucks, lousy allergies)
And I always wear moisturizer with SPF.

Christina – I definitely search for products with a sunblock. There’s nothing worse than getting burnt!
JK – a big night out is about the only time I delve into the makeup too. It’s certainly cheaper. Makeup is expensive these days.
Deena – the lip balm sounds nice. I generally stick to Nivea cream to keep my lips soft. The tub is a bit big to carry around though. The brand you mention doesn’t sound familiar so it must be an American one?
Helen – I didn’t realize you were in Colorado. Hubby and I visited last year and loved it. We had a ball at Cripplecreek. From memory that’s in Colorado. The scenery is gorgeous though all the dying trees were a bit weird.

Roberta – I’m big on lotions. As I mentioned I love Body Butter.
Karen – I had a huge problem with runny eyes and my eye person suggested drops. A lot of the times eyes run because they’re too dry. The drops certainly helped me, although I’ve moved to waterproof mascara when I do bother with eye makeup. Racoon eyes aren’t a good look.

Hi Shelly,
Make up… well the older I get the less I use it. I hardly ever wear mascura, eye colour.. seeing I have my lower lids tattoed I don’t need to put on eye liner at all.
I also use a tinted sunscreen…I go every where with my sunscreen. Lippy is a must as well… Loreal have lippys that change whne you put them on. I love them. lol…

Shelley – I stopped wearing makeup regularly long ago. I never was much for foundation, but I would love to wear mascara more regularly (blonde eyelashes!) I too suffer from dry eyes though so I have to save it for special occasions – and make sure I have lots of drops to get the red out the next day!
I’m actually thinking of having my eyelashes dyed and see how that works out.
Otherwise, I wear moisturizer with sunblock. And if I was on a desert island the one thing I would definitely have to have (in addition to the moisturizer!) is my Blistex lip balm. I’m addicted!

I would have to have lip balm can’t live without it
