Fortune’s Chance with Karen Erickson.

I thought it would be fun to do a few more short interviews, and since blog friend, Karen Erickson has a new release, I chose her to pick on this week. Her new release, Fortune’s Chance is available from Samhain Publishing.

Money can’t buy love. But it might just buy a second chance…

A Fortune story.

Lauren Tollson can’t believe it. She’s just run into her old flame—in a sex club, of all places. Since winning a huge lottery jackpot, she’s not big on trusting any man’s motives. But David Fairfield could be just what she needs to satisfy that nagging little urge. At least temporarily.

Once, long ago, David made the biggest mistake of his life by letting Lauren slip away. Now that he has her back in his life, he’s not going to let her go. Ever. He’s older now. Wiser. Or at least he’s trying to be.

If Lauren becomes wise to his secret, though, it could ruin any chance she’ll see him as anything other than a freeloader—not the forever kind of man she deserves.

Part of the Fortune series with Fortune’s Deception and Fortune’s Promise.

1. How did you come up with the idea for Fortune’s Chance?

I believe I saw something on TV about winning the lottery. And then I read an article in a magazine about a family who won the lottery and it kind of just clicked together from that point. Doesn’t everyone dream about winning a big jackpot and what they would do with all of that money? I know I have more than a few times, LOL.

2. Describe your hero and then give us a one word description that fits him best.

David is the heroine, Lauren’s old boyfriend. They have a history, a shaky history and when he sees her again, a chance meeting, he’s determined to get her back. He’s always regretted letting her go and even though she’s prickly and reluctant to believe him, he won’t give up. So if I had to use one word to describe David it would be determined. He is determined to win back Lauren’s love no matter what it takes.

3. You’ve written several books in the Fortune series. What do you like best about writing a series?

It’s fun to set up that first book with the cast of characters you know you’re going to write about later. It’s especially fun to revisit the old characters and see what they’re up to now. I think that’s the best part. Most of the time you write a book, give the couple a happy ending and it’s over. With a series you can keep the story going.

Thanks for having me on your blog Shelley!

Hi, Karen! Fortune’s Chance sounds good–I really enjoy second-chance stories! And I do love a series–I love seeing the little peeks into “after the HEA” that you get from later books and I enjoy revisiting a community/world set up by previous books. Is your Fortune series an ongoing one? Or do you have an endpoint in mind?
