I’ve read my very first book for 2009. I’m still in my contemporary/western phaze, and when I was trying to decide which book to read from my to-read pile, I picked up Wicked Burn by Beth Kery.
Wicked Burn is a recent release. You might have noticed some of the wonderful reviews out in webland. I have and was looking forward to reading it. I wasn’t disappointed. Wicked Burn is a sexy read, dripping with emotion and has a strong alpha hero. Very yummy. The heroine is no slouch either. They are perfectly matched and I believed in their happy ending. If you like hot contemporaries you can’t go wrong with Beth Kery’s recent release, Wicked Burn. She has done a great job with her first NY release, and I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next one.
What is the first book you’ve read in 2009? The first book you’ve started to read?
Look for the winners in my Birthday Bash contest tomorrow. I meant to pick them today but things were a bit hectic at Munro house. Tomorrow, I promise!

I enjoyed this book – I thought the characters were wonderful! I placed an order a few days ago that should be coming this next week. I hope to dive into Megan Hart’s Stranger first.

I am reading Unlaced by Jaci Burton, Jasmine Haynes, Joey Hill, and Denise Rossetti. It is an amazing book, it really makes you want to run out and by a corset.

I am reading a Maggie Shayne I’ve had in my TBR stack. I have Lisa Jackson’s LOST SOULS next on my list. After that it’s THE EIGHT by Katherine Neville.

Well, honestly the first thing I read in 2009 was a chapter in my Psyche text. Can you say yuck? My first book will be the much anticipated Cat burglar by my favorite author Shelley Munro. (I still can’t believe I forgot to grab it on the 31st. Bad Amy! BAD!) I know she’d never disappoint me, she’s so fabulous! LOL! Then, I have to read the next chapter of Having a Mary Heart, in a Martha World by Joanne Weaver for my church Woman’s group. If you are a Christian woman living in today’s busy society you should pick this baby up.
But Wicked Burn sounds lovely so I may add it to my list for later in the week if school doesn’t kill me first.
Hugs and happy 2009!
-Amy W.
P.S. More Middle March!

I am reading No Escape by Shannon K Butcher
( Romantic Suspense ) and am thoroughly enjoying it. I am not quite half way through and the author has let us know who the killer is and why he is killing, an interesting development that does not spoil the mounting tension. Nuh uh, not going to tell.
You will have to get your own, grin.

I’m planning on hitting The Magical Christmas Cat Anthology this weekend. It has stories by Lora Leigh, Nalini Singh, Linda Winstead Jones, and Erin McCarthy.
I’m being bad. Its not the oldest in my TBR pile. It’s only been waiting since November but I’m into anthologies lately. With all the hustle and bustle I haven’t had time to sit and read a whole novel length lately. Also looking to broaden my horizons by sampling authors I haven’t read before.
*Tosses more confetti* Hey, you started it!

Karen – I’ve read a couple of Megan’s books. I enjoy her writing. You’re right about Beth’s characters. They leapt off the page.
Cheryl – I like rom suspense, too. I read the first in Cindy’s recent trilogy but haven’t caught up with the rest yet.
Sara – I love the cover for this book. It’s gorgeous!
Jory – I had to go and Google both of these and read the blurbs. They book look really interesting, so I’ve put them on my list.

Amy W – Just so you know, the next is out in Feb and I’m working on another.
It seems weird that you’re doing school stuff because everyone is on school holidays here until the end of Jan.
Judith – I read No Control by Shannon Butcher and enjoyed it. I understand Shannon has a paranormal series coming soon as well.
Marissa – LOL You’d better watch it. I have a hankering for my own supersoaker. They’re really powerful you know. The water might reach from NZ…
Let me know if you enjoy the anthology. I’ve looked at it but the price has put me off a bit.
Jane – It seems a lot of us are reading rom suspense at the start of the year.

I just read the first book of 2009 myself. It was “Ask Adam” by Jess Dee from Samhain–and I liked it very much. I seem to be getting into the contemp’s when it comes to my more erotic reading.
