Here are some suggestions for gifts to purchase for writers.
1. A Sony reader or a Kindle. Not exactly cheap, but any writer or reader would love this gift.
2. A subscription to Writer’s Digest or Romantic Times magazines.
3. An alphasmart. Also expensive but I love mine. It’s an older one and still going strong. I use it all the time.
4. Moleskin notebooks. All writers love notebooks to jot things in and plot.
5. A digital voice recorder. Perfect to use in the middle of the night when a pen and paper is never where you left it last or when you’re on the move.
6. A T-shirt just for a writer.
7. A coffee mug because writer’s need caffiene.
8. A writing course – either at a local university or college or an online one. I always enjoy the Kiss of Death chapter’s online writing classes but there are heaps of others available.
9. Magnetic Poetry – here’s one called Writer’s Remedy to help with writer’s block.
10. A writer’s survival kit – put together your own kit including notebooks, pens, post it notes, chocolate etc. Add whatever you think a particular writer needs to survive.
11. A Storyboard Notebook from Levenger. There are lots of other great writer gifts here, too!
12. Book vouchers. What writer doesn’t enjoy buying new books? Buy a voucher from an online store or a traditional one. There are lots to choose from including Amazon, Barns & Noble, Fishpond.
13. Buy one of my print books from Ellora’s Cave. They’re all on sale until the end of December at $3 each. Romancing the Alien is a bargain at $3 because it’s a rea….lly fat book. Summer in the City of Sails, Romancing the Alien, Dreams of Oasis III, and Men to Die For. (You might not receive these in time for Christmas but you won’t have time to read until after, right?)
I could have added laptops, bags, pens and maybe jewelry. I’m sure there are other things too. Have I missed anything on your wishlist? What would you like for Christmas? What should I add to my list?

I like all the gifts from the list, though I just renewed my Writers Digest.

Hmm… I might have to nudge the hubby over in this general direction and see if he picks up on any gift-giving vibes… ;)
LOL!
Fantastic list!
Happy TT!

I love books for Christmas. I think the tough part is people don’t know what I already have. LOL.
I always have books I’d love to get and as a writer, I need to keep reading.

If only I could have pointed my family to this list before they started shopping. Maybe I still will.

I just bought Summer in the City of Sails, and can’t wait to get it!! I’m also checking out that notebook from Levenger’s.

Oh, I wish Santa would bring me an ereader. It’s really the only thing I want … and probably the only thing I won’t get. LOL! Merry T13!

I think that to write more, I need the gift of a room of my own with a lock on the door. I’m betting I have a better shot at getting some pens.

I’ve only just discovered Levengers and it looks like such a great store. I wish it was in NZ so it was easier for me to shop there!
I hope you all receive the writing gifts you desire.
Sam, I hope you enjoy Summer’s story. I have a real soft spot for Nikolai, the hero in that story. Summer gives him such a hard time!

I’m with Mary – a room with a locked door – both for stopping me from getting away from my computer, and from other people getting in to

I’m really looking forward to it, Shelley!
And, Nina, I’m getting an iTouch for Christmas. It was my one must have gift!

Great list, though I prefer The Writer over WD. I would love an Alphasmart, but knew that was going to happen so only put journals and books on my list. Merry Christmas!

Definitely at the top of my list is an ereader and a laptop, but I know better than to expect such lavish gifts. Money is too tight. I do hope that everybody gets at least something from their list. Happy Holidays!

These suggestions are perfect! In fact, there is stuff on here I didn’t think of that I now MUST HAVE!!
I’m forwarding this over to my hubby… in hopes he hasn’t finished his shopping yet.

Your No. ! is at the top of my list. A nice pen set with a journal is good too for those longhand moments. A Starbucks gift card would be great, because I love to write in a coffee shop. There are too many distractions at home.

Julie – I like to write in our local coffee shop, too. I don’t really have distractions at home, but sometimes a change of scenery gets the work done a bit better!
Glad to be of service, Wylie.
Deidre – I’d love one of those ereaders, but somehow I don’t think they’re going to arrive in my stocking either. I think I’ll settle for a book instead.

Shelley, Th distractions, many times, are of my own making—feeling guilty because I should be cleaning instead. Julie

Great list! I’m jonesing for the fold up ebook reader that isn’t even out yet, the Readius.

OMG, Levenger! I am addicted to them, although sad they no longer carry the variety of pens they used to. I highly suggest the LapLander, although I have the old style with the neoprene cover. LOVE it.

I do not write but I love notepads and sticky notes for jotting things down. The Levenger site is always fun to page through.
