Crimson Pleasures Book Two
Loved the characters, the heat and the thought of an enthralling hero sinking his teeth into your neck in Crimson Thrall? Then get set for more passion, more intensity and a bigger bite!
Six centuries have passed since a treacherous enemy wrested Antonio’s love from his bed. He was outmatched and overpowered before, but nothing will keep him from claiming Serafina now—not even Serafina herself. Wild with hunger and a soul-deep longing, he declares a Bride Hunt, an ancient ritual most vampires abandoned centuries before.
Serafina endured a loveless marriage for the sake of her sisters. Now her husband’s death has freed her to think of her own happiness. Before she can decide how to flex her independence, she’s being hunted by a domineering, if utterly desirable, vampire bent on binding her soul to his. Antonio awakens sensations and ignites responses she never experienced with her husband, but is physical pleasure reason enough to spend eternity at his side?

I believe that cat people are drawn to vampire stories and dog people prefer werewolf stories. Do you agree or disagree and tell me why.

really like vampires, but i hate cats. not a cat person at all
or dog either, and love werewolves.
i guess the cat would smell the doggie part of a weerewolf , but not sure about a dog and vampire,, no heart beat? and it freak out dogs?
by blackroze37 December 6th, 2008 at 12:27 amI love cats! And I love vamps!!! I don’t like dogs but love reading werewolves tho! But interesting because I never thought of it that way!
by Caffey December 6th, 2008 at 12:44 amLets see…I like cats, not dogs. And I like vamps, were’s and just about all other shifters!! Not sure about the fishy ones yet.
by Kim S. December 6th, 2008 at 1:10 amHmmm…what’s that mean if I’m a cat person?? LOL
Okay, so I should have mentioned that Aubrey gets the credit for the question.
I like both cats and dogs. I’m not as fond of vamps (being honest here!) but I adore werewolf stories so the statment doesn’t work for me.
by Shelley Munro December 6th, 2008 at 2:37 amSix centuries is a really long time to wait to reclaim a lost love! I would never have that patience! :-) Love vamps though!
by Tamsyn December 6th, 2008 at 4:07 amHmm, interesting theory. I never used to like vamps and yet I’m a cat lover (although I found a couple writers who write vamps that I like to read, but I’m picky – just like a cat, LOL) I like wolves, but I like dogs too. So I don’t know whether that proves the theory or not.
by Leah Braemel December 6th, 2008 at 6:18 amHmm… I’m not sure I’m much of a pet person (not having grown up with either), but have read and enjoyed both vamps and weres… not sure how that fits the theory (or doesn’t) :)
by Fedora December 6th, 2008 at 8:56 amI’m not an animal lover, so I guess that explains why I don’t care for vampire or werewolf stories.
by Wilma Frana December 6th, 2008 at 8:56 amCongrats on the new releases and the fantastic contest to promote them.
by Gayle O December 6th, 2008 at 10:46 amAh, I see Aubrey’s theory isn’t proven one way or the other yet. We need to do some more research!
by Shelley Munro December 6th, 2008 at 12:51 pmWell, I’m a cat person in as much as my last two pets have been cats, but I love dogs too. And I’ll read just about anything paranormal…
Sounds like a great book Aubrey! Congrats on your release.
by JK Coi December 6th, 2008 at 12:53 pmI’ve never thought about that. I am a cat person and I do love vampire stories, but I have recently gotten into werewolf stories, too.
by Jane December 6th, 2008 at 1:35 pmI don’t know about cats since I’ve never owned one but I’ve always had dogs and I really like to read about wolves or werewolves. So I would say part of your surmise is true.
by JOYE December 6th, 2008 at 1:52 pmI love it all. Dogs, cats, vamps, werewolves and any other paranormal or shifters.
by Debby Creager December 6th, 2008 at 2:13 pmDebby
I’m a dog person….. but not drawn to either, having said that I’ve just bought Twilight to see if i’ll like it. I also like the House of Night series and they’re vamps.
by Sara Hantz December 6th, 2008 at 2:18 pmI am more of a cat person, but I love werewolf stories maybe a smidge more than vampire stories.
Love the imaginative ways that animal characteristics can be woven into a great romance story.
by Cathy M December 6th, 2008 at 3:10 pmI would agree that dog lovers would be drawn to werewolf stories. But I’m not so sure about cat people being drawn to vampire stories.
by Lexee December 6th, 2008 at 4:34 pmI personally love all shifter stories. I haven’t found one that I don’t love.
I am a cat person, but prefer werewolf stories.
by Estella December 6th, 2008 at 4:55 pmI have both a cat and a dog and I enjoy reading vampires and werewolves.
by Amy S. December 6th, 2008 at 7:46 pmShelley (and Aubrey),
I may be going against the grain here, but I think Aubrey has something with her theory. My husband, who is a Leo and more standoffish like a cat, loves vampires. My son too loves vampire stories and he’s got three cats. (but guess who takes care of them most of the time?)
Now my husband does have a dog (looks just like the Shaggy DA) and I have a big dog (half Catahoula, half Geman Shepard).
My husband thinks I’m more cat-like, but all my friends think I’m more like a dog because I’m so friendly (just waiting for someone to pet me and love me). For the past few years, I have been more into werewolf stories. To support the hypothesis, about 15 years ago, I was really into cats (my pet was a cat too) and I liked everything vampire. I still do love vampire stories, but have been strangely attracted to wolves of late, even posting pictures of them next to my computer.
Maybe it’s unconscious, but maybe with cats, it’s something about the sharp little teeth. True, Lycanthropes have sharp canines, but just as in the difference between cats and dogs, the wolf savagely rips his prey, while the vampire hero/ine is neat and almost feline in his/her sensuality. In addition, the vampire still retains his (wo)man form, while the werewolf has to shape shift to become the beast he is within.
I enjoyed this really thought provoking question. Congratulations, Aubrey, on your release.

by Julie Robinson December 6th, 2008 at 8:43 pmOh, Julie. Great and well-thought out answer. Now just to put the cat among the pigeons (so to speak!) where do you stand on feline shifters??? Curious minds want to know.
by Shelley Munro December 6th, 2008 at 9:05 pmLove ‘em, Shelley. And I don’t think a male feline shifter has to be effeminate. I remember several romance stories when I was little (and some now) where the hero moved with a ‘panther-like” grace.
In fact, have you read Lora Leigh’s “A Jaguar Kiss” from Shifter? OMG, that was a good story!
Julie
by Julie Robinson December 6th, 2008 at 9:36 pmJulie – Lora Leigh is one of my favorite authors, although I haven’t read the one you mentioned. My favorite shifter book of hers is Elizabeth’s Wolf. I prefer her contemporary books but do keep up with the Breed series, too.
by Shelley Munro December 7th, 2008 at 1:52 amThis book sounds really interesting.
by Karin December 7th, 2008 at 1:57 pmThat was a great excerpt! I’m going to put it on my wishlist. :)
I am by nature a cat person (wild and domestic cats). I always have been even though I was raised around dogs for the first few years of my life. I’ve had both in the past and I currently have both now (1 dog and 3 cats). I can honestly tell you that I love both vampire and werewolf stories. I started with vamps because I had no idea until I got more into urban fantasy and romance (I was more into Anne Rice and magic (witches/warlocks) when I was younger) that there were really good werewolf stories out there. I’m hooked on both now and I go back and forth between the two.
by Dani December 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pmWOW that cover is HOTTT!
by Tami Cullen December 9th, 2008 at 10:17 amI can see why dog people would like werewolf stories, but I’m not sure why there would be a correlation between cat people and vampires. LOL
