Writing and James Bond

I wrote during the weekend. I wrote lots, and I’m pleased to announce I finished writing my first draft. Now it’s time for the polishing to begin. The timing was great because I’ve received edits on my latest Middlemarch book, Leticia’s Lovers. I worked on those today and tomorrow should see them completed as well. All is right in my world.

During the weekend I went to the mall. While at Borders, I saw Sir Roger Moore. He’s in New Zealand at present signing his book. I think Roger Moore is my favorite Bond, although Daniel Craig does a pretty good job. In truth, Mr. Moore is looking a bit craggy these days. I guess we all get old eventually.

It hit me the other day that Mr. Munro is turning 50 in January. I’m still shaking my head over that one since he doesn’t look like a 50 year old. Or maybe it’s that neither of us feel old. Anyway, after some discussion we decided we’re doing something special and spending a couple of days at The Chateau on Mount Ruapehu. We’ve talked about staying there for years, and Mr. Munro’s birthday sounds like the ideal time. I, of course, am no where near 50.

If you’re a James Bond fan, which one do you like most? If you’re not a Bond fan, how was your weekend?

I’m not a James Bond fan. At least, not until Daniel Craig took over. I’ve watched Casino Royal twice now, which is a record for me and JB movies!! And although Daniel isn’t Clive, he is still very hot!!!

Shelley, happy birthday to your hubby. You my dear will probably remain 30 or 35 for years, just like the women in my family who all apparently got married at sixteen, had babies right away, and never aged. Just got better.

Tell us more about NZ. We may attend a relative’s wedding in Sidney in summer (our summer) and were debating whether to take a side trip to NZ.

My favorite James Bond is Pierce Brosnan. Roger Moore was also a pretty cool one.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Munro! And many many more.

I’ve always been a Bond fan, and because of my age (also no where near 50 ) my first Bond was Moore, and therefore my fave. HOWEVER, Daniel Craig totally and completely won me over, leaping miles over the rest, who, in hindsight, seemed more parodic in comparison.
(Not sure parodic is a real word, but you get my meaning, yes?)

Oh Sean Connery does it for me. He just has that certain charisma and I love him as 007.

    Happy Birthday, Mr. Munro!

    C~

Christina – I still have watched the entire Casino Royale movie – just bits and pieces. I keep meaning to watch it since hubby said it was really good.

Mona – I’ll email you privately later today. How long were you thinking of spending here? It’s a lot bigger than you might think.

Colleen – Sean Connery has aged very well. I love his accent.

Wylie – I figure we’re only as old as we feel, which of course, is no where near 50. I really must watch that movie…

Sean Connery in “From Russia with Love”, but I haven’t seen either of the Daniel Craig efforts.
I met “Bond, James Bond.” when the books were first published and retain Ian Flemming’s decided view of an adequately nasty English Gentleman who predated Toby Meares from “Callan”–someone I preferred to remain on the page of a book than meet in person.
Wish Paul a happy birthday from us.
We went to Mildura for the weekend to celebrate a friend’s 70th birthday (I’ve only known him for fifty-five years) and had a ball, returning feeling all of my own years.
We visited the Chalet when we were in NZ and it is impressive, so enjoy your stay.

Sean is my favorite bond, though Daniel has some intense smoldering things going down.

I also like Peter Sellers as one of the many bonds in the original Casino Royale. Verra different from the most recent Casino Royale.

    Happy Birthday to Mr. Munro!

I think Sean Connery is the best Bond, but Daniel Craig is a close second. I was pleasantly surprised at how good Daniel Craig was in “Casino Royale.”

I haven’t seen Daniel Craig as Bond, so can’t put him into the line-up. My vote goes to Roger Moore. Funny enough, I remember hating it when Sean Connery was replaced–but he has aged so well (or maybe it’s just because I have), that I think he’s far more attractive now (i.e., The Rock and Finding Forrester) than he was as a younger man.

I’m not a James Bond fan since Sean Connery stopped playing him. I know, everyone says “But he’s soooooo old.” Shrug. I just think he gets better with age LOL

Sean Connery and Daniel Craig top my list of Bonds. But it’s very cool that you saw Roger Moore in 3D!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Monro – enjoy your stay at The Chateau. It looks dreamy.

Have a very nice time at the Chateau!
I loved Connery…right up until Daniel Craig.

Amy – I’ve enjoyed some of Sean Connery’s “after Bond” movies. He’s certainly aged well.

Yes, the Chateau is lovely. It’s 80 years old next year.

Amy R – I haven’t seen the original Casino Royale. Mr. Munro’s birthday isn’t until Jan. We’re just getting organized.

Jane – I keep saying it. I must watch Casino Royale over the upcoming holidays.

Jory – I hated it when they replaced Roger Moore. :-) One Bond I didn’t like was Timothy Dalton.

Nancy – I agree. He’s aged very well!!
