I’ve been going to post this for ages. It’s an ad shot in Auckland (you’ll see quick glimpses of Sky Tower and the waterfront from Mission Bay) and it’s very cute. It never fails to make me laugh.
There’s a new version of the ad playing at the moment with the daughter asking her mother where she came from. The above version flashes through the mother’s head, then she turns to her daughter and says, “Ask your father.” That makes me laugh, too. I looked for it on Youtube but it’s a bit too new at the moment.
Well, it’s back to the writing cave for me. Things are going well. If you feel inclined, tell me who told you about the birds and bees…

Cute video. My mother told me, but I like the story about my oldest brother better. He was quite young at the time, 10 or so, when he asked and an explanation came about poplar trees as there are male and female trees. The male poplar trees produce a kind of fluff that goes with the seeds. Several years passed, and I still recall his outburst at the dinner table: he’d been embarrassed at junior high school when he thought standing beside a girl he liked would make him produce seed like the poplar tree! This occurred in the mid-1950s when sex education wasn’t prevalent and understated. From the video, you’d think it really hasn’t changed all that much.
Sometimes the simplest answer is the best.

LMAO, you get great videos down there, Shelley. I especially loved the graphics that captured what he was explaining – the tunnel, the fountain, the fireworks. Great great ad!
