I’ve never been very keen on Country music. I think it comes from having to listen to this genre when I was a kid. As soon as I was old enough to choose my own music I gravitated toward rock. Hubby and I like to listen to music while we’re driving. When we were in the USA in the middle of nowhere it was easy enough to use my Ipod and hook into an unused radio frequency. When we were near cities we couldn’t do this and we ended up listening to Country because most of the stations seemed to be Country. Hubby usually complains but this time he didn’t comment or try to change stations. One day he said, “When we get home I might download some of these songs for my Ipod.”
It made me laugh because I’d been thinking the same thing. We ended up making a list of songs to download. We like the upbeat ones rather than the “crying” ones. Here’s one of our favorites – it makes us both laugh. We even know quite a few of the words.

I like the upbeat country too.
Brooks and Dunn, Big and Rich. It’s rockin’ country.
Of course I love Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Jr., but that’s years of child hood subjection and that’s not either here or there.

LMAO. Seeing the images of that video are gonna stick my brain forever now. It put a whole different slant on the lyrics. Good song, now I’ll be singing that one today.
Thanks, Shelley!

Interesting song, but this isn’t really my cup of tea. I can’t get into it no matter how hard I try–and I have tried since my husband loves country. :)

Amy – years of country music during childhood had the opposite reaction for me. I ran as fast as I could in the opposite direction.
Leah – the video did put a different spin on the song – one that never occurred to me.
Sandra – hi! I’m home again and almost recovered from my flu. I just need to get rid of my stupid cough.
JK – each to their own! That’s what makes us all unique.

I’m not sure how I would classify my taste in music. My computer plays itunes in the background while I write and thay range from Australian Country music like John Williamson’s “Cootamundra Wattles” to “The Hall of the Mountain Kings” from “Peer Gynt”. Each has its place in my memories, the former recallind childhood days. while the latter is fixed in the early 1960′s and a ship called the “Eastern Moon” that sailed from Calcutta to Japan, calling at most of the ports between.
I add new tunes occasionally and they each have their memories to qualify them for the list.
On a slightly different note, our sixth grandchild arrived on September 15th–Ella Joan, 9lbs 6ozs– and we now have four girls and two boys in that generation. (We looked after a very energetic 2 year-old while her mother was in hospital and are still recovering)
Sounds like a great trip. Glad to see you home and recovering.

Wahahahahaha! That’s great! I don’t have any one type or kind of music that I like. I go through phases of which I like best and so it’s always changing. Then I also have the favorites from each phase too, so who knows. I grew up listening to 80′s pop, rock and techno from my brother; my parents had classical 50′s rock, 60′s folk and the ever present Beach Boys playing in the car; my hubby likes everything from rap to country to hard rock and metal. Did I mention I like show tunes? But mostly what i get to listen too right now are kiddy songs like “Wheels on the Bus”, “Hokey Pokey” and “Bingo”.
I do have to say that I love the country comedy/spoof songs best like “Goodbye Earl” or my all time favorite “You Never Even Call Me By My Name”. I may just have to add this one to my list. Although there’s a newer one out that my hubby likes to sing that talks about wanting to check you for ticks or something, it seems fairly funny too.
Glad to “see” you back and hope you’re feeling better!

LMAO!! The video gave me the chuckle I needed tonight (I have the sniffle/coughs/sore throat).
And the tune is ultra-catchy.

His brand new girlfriend seems to have a problem holding her….. air.
It is a cute tune but I would rather listen to Eric Bogle anyday.

I grew up with coutry music too. Like you I only listen to it these days when I’m stranded.
But Jim Reeves will always be my favorite singer ever. What a voice!

Amy – congratulations on the new grandchild.
Paz – I enjoy music, so it’s great to find new artists. I do tune out when I’m writing though, so the music is wasted on me then.
Amy W – I bet you know all the words to the kids’ songs. Do you have the Wiggles? The Wiggles are mega multi-millionaires – it was on the news this week.
Wylie – hugs. It sounds like you have the same thing I’ve had. I’m still coughing a little. Get well soon!
Kaisquared – LOL – she does seem to have a problem with her air. I’m going to have to google Eric Bogle. I don’t know who he is.
Ember – hi! It was great to meet you at conference.
Kimberley C – Thanks so much. I’m looking forward to Tea For Two’s release date.
Deb – Jim Reeves was my father’s favorite. I agree his voice was awesome but I did hear rather a lot of him as a kid.

Too cute. You might like Toby Keith. He’s got some funny, upbeat songs. And Travis Tritt’ s “Ten Feet Tall And Bulletproof” and “Here’s A Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares” and “Monkey Around”.
