Periodically new ideas with promo potential come along. Twitter is one of the latest things around. So what is Twitter, you ask? Basically it’s a tiny blog that you update throughout the day. When I say tiny I mean a small, since 140 characters is the maximum amount you can write in each post. The idea is to twitter several times a day to let your friends, family and co-workers know what you’re doing.
Here’s a video that explains everything:
I haven’t signed up yet but thought I would once I return home from my holiday. I’ve had a brainwave – a way to use Twitter for promo, so it will be interesting to see if it works. You can find Twitter here.
Do you Twitter?

What a cool idea. I’d never heard of it.

I use Twitter extensively at work to watch for chatter about our company/products and to make connections and network in the industry. With that in mind, I decided to try the same thing for my Author persona.
Despite my best intentions, I haven’t done a lot on twitter yet. They’ve broken a lot of their own functionality which breaks any widgets we might use for myspace or the website. But some authors are using it successfully. I’ve seen people using it to actually write a book, one person I notice does a new “drabble” length poem once a day using twitter. But mostly it’s just another way to reach readers to let them know you have a new blog post or point out a cool link you’ve just found.
I think the social applications of the tool are just barely being scratched at.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a big fan of it. :D

That’s interest, RD. I’ve heard quite a few people are enjoying Twitter.
