  1. I love romances with a sports theme. I would add Carly Phillips’ Hot Zone series.

  2. Rugby, eh?

You’ve piqued my interest… Now I’m wondering just how Rugby comes into play… so to speak.

    Ciao!

  3. I just adore Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ football stories!
But, yes, I do like all sports themes in books.
I see that racketball isn’t taken. Maybe I’ll try to write that. LOL!

  4. Oh oh, Jenna Bayley-Burke has a great golf romance coming out in July–Par for the Course, from Samhain.
I like neither sport in general nor golf, but the book is fabulous!

  5. It always cracks me up when someone quotes from The Rules: “No romances about sports.”

SEP’s my first comeback. I just love the entire Chicago Stars series!

  6. Interesting TT!

  7. Very kewl. Some seriously talented authors there. Happy T13!

  8. I’m not usually a sports fan, but I just might check out one or two of these. Thanks!

  9. I love sports in books…just not in real life *lol*

    Great list!!

  10. I am a huge NASCAR fan..Another good author is Pamela Britton..She does NASCAR books as well..

  11. I love this list, Shelley.

  12. Great list, but Patricia McLinn should be here too. Her first book - Hoops - is about basketball. One of her more recent - The Games - is about the Olympics.

  13. Great List! I loved Crystal Jordan’s Full Swing.

  14. R.G. dragged me over here to look–thanks for the mention!

I have to admit, I wanted to write about a woman sports star, and the only sport I know anything about is golf. I was on the varsity team in high school–mostly because it’s the only sport I could find that involves NO running.

  15. Ice hockey, eh? You know I used to play and coach, pre-kids and destroyed body…

Cool way to pimp some worthy folks, Shelley. I’m learning from you!

  16. Wow, I love sports stories, but I’ve missed all these. Thanks for putting this together. And rugby men… yum!

  17. Interesting! Don’t think I’ve ever done a story with a sports theme! Spanking isn’t a sport, right? LOL!

    *hugs*
    Paige

    My TT is at http://paigetylertheauthor.blogspot.com/

  18. Anne McCaffrey did one way back when about the horse show circuit. But I read mostly historicals, so some horse racing is the closest they come to real sports.

I will admit I’ve been trying to come up with something revolving around a martial arts studio, but nothing’s really gelled yet. ;)

    Happy TT!

  19. Alice, I was thinking of Pat McLinn, too — and HOOPS was even a RITA nom!

    Great TT, Shelley!

  20. Well, I have a charioteer, and there are some minor gladiator characters running around.

Chariot races were the formula 1 of Rome, as popular as football in the US and with more scandals than doping at the Olympics.

  21. Ms. Menozzi - In Best Man and Playing to Win the heroes are rugby players but the rugby is in the background. In Issy’s Infatuation the rugby is center stage.

Alice - I haven’t heard of Patricia McLinn. I’ll have to google.

    Crystal - you’re very welcome.

    Nina - I love rugby!

  22. Paige - spanking could be a new sport. What do you think????

Kaige - martial arts would be a good setting for a romance.

Gabriele - that definitely sounds like sports to me!

  23. What a fun list! Of course, NOW my reading pile got bigger. Hmph. But what a cool idea! Thank you! Happy TT!

  24. I love Phillips. :D good list.

  25. Great list. I love sports. I haven’t read all of these, so I’ve added them to my TBB list.

    Thanks!

  26. Pretty much anything with David Beckham (particularly shirtless) is okay with me.

I also love Dierdre Martin’s ice hockey books and Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s football and golf books.

I think we need more sports themes, definitely. Athletes are HOT!

  27. Cool list, I’ll have to check some of those out.

  28. I don’t think I’ve read a single sports story romance. Happy TT.

  29. Hey, this is a great list, Shelley! I’ll definitely be reading some of these. Thanks for checking out my blog today!

  30. I had no idea there were so many sports themed stories. Cool!

  31. Now that’s amazing — I would never have been able to pull that list together.

  32. LOL - it was easy, Robin. I’m a sports nut and always grab a romance with a sports setting.

  33. Shelley - I’m woefully behind on post TT, but I do pop by and read yours and lo and behold…I’m on there this week - yay!

    Thanks darlin’ :)
