The Week in Review

Yesterday I, along with countless other writers, started on the 70 Days of Sweat challenge. This is my first time and so far I’m doing all right and have written more words than I normally would. Here’s hoping I can keep it up because I know I have some edits on the way. Is anyone else doing the challenge? Let me know if you are. I like to know my fellow sweaters.

On Friday I fell off my bike. My left knee looks like I’ve attacked it with a grater while my right leg is sporting four fist-sized bruises. Yep, looking pretty colorful today. On Saturday my knee was painfully sore but today I’m feeling much better and walking normally again. It’s fine as long as I don’t make any sudden moves. My bike tire caught the lip of the footpath after I’d passed an elderly gentleman and over I went. The man asked me if I was okay and picked up my bike for me before hurrying off. I think he thought I might cry. I didn’t but I said, “Bugger” twice - the extent of my swearing. So, my lesson learned - watch out for lips on pavements. Unfortunately, all the new footpaths have a few inches drop down to the grass and it’s not always easy to avoid them.

Today I’m giving away a download of Playing to Win over at The Romance Studio.

And another CONTEST: Win a download of Fancy Free. Read the excerpt on my website and answer the following question. What stopped James and Alice from making love? Email your answer to shelley munro@ gmail.com (no spaces) and I’ll announce the winner on 6 March.

And that’s all the excitement at the Munro house. Oh, apart from the fact I’ve finally purchased an Ipod. It’s only a 1GB one but they were so cheap hubby and decided we might as well buy it. I have my songs loaded up, heavy on the NZ music, and I’m good to go. Life’s good.

What are you up to this week?

  1. Love to know who you are listening to on your ipod. :)

    Hopefully quiet week ahead. :)

  2. One Day by a New Zealand band called Op Shop. It’s my favorite song at the moment.

I think quiet weeks are good! Plenty of time to recharge.

  3. Oh, a virgin for Sven! Let us how was the first time.

  4. Ouw, falling off a bicycle is no fun, especially with gravel involved. I once got some into my palm - I was poking out little bits of gravel for three weeks.

  5. HUGS on your knee. I hope it heals quickly! And yeah on Sven!! The first time I did it, I wrote The Bond That Heals Us. I’m hoping I have as good of luck with this time.

We’ll have to cheer each other on!

  6. Poor you. Hugs and hope your knee feels better. I would’ve cried. LOL!

Just sweating with Sven, trying not pull my hair out and running screaming, other than that things are good. :D

  7. Woo-hoo! Go Shelly! I’m sweatin’ with you!
Sorry ’bout your knee. (ouch!) And the edits might slow you down, but keep on truckin’ along - we’re behind you! ~Gwen

  8. Yeah, welcome to the iPod clan. I don’t know much about NZ music. Isn’t Crowded House from NZ. I hope I’m not dating myself.

  9. Hope your knee is better soon!

  10. Tempest - definitely a virgin for Sven. The writing is going well so I’m really pleased.

Gabriele - Falling off a bike is definitely no fun! My knee is constantly weeping because the graze is where my knee bends. No fun but at least it seems gravel free. I hope!

Christine - I’m definitely cheering for all fellow sweaters. Sven is such a stern task-master.

Amy - the crying was a close thing. I’m such a baby.

Gwen - you’re going really well! Keep it up. I’ll be tagging on behind.

Jane - yes, I have some Crowded House and also some Split Enz (the band the Finn brothers had before Crowded House) plus some new NZ stuff from Op shop, The Feelers, Bic Runga etc
Crowded House/Split Enz keep making comebacks so I don’t think either of us are dating ourselves!

Estella - thank you! I hope so too.

  11. Hope you heal up soon, Shelley. And happy sweating! I’ll just be moseying along at my own pace - no sweating for me…

  12. ACK! Hope your knee is feeling better.

And good luck with the 70 days of Sweat challenge.

I’ve never done one either. The timing is never right. I just finished a rough draft of a book on the last of February. I didn’t have it in me to turn around and start another one the next day. LOL
