It’s no secret to my family that I love color and whenever I return from a day in central Auckland I mutter about the parade of suits in black. Honestly, between twelve and one the entire length of Queen street seems to turn black when office workers come out to lunch. What’s with that?
My favorite color is blue in all its various shades: azure, royal, lapis lazuli, indigo, sapphire, turquoise, cornflowe, neon, sky, navy… Well, you get the picture. There’s something about color that makes me feel happy. When I look at the ducks on the nearby pond, I see their shades of brown and the purple/blue feathers at their wings. I love the sunshine yellow of spring flowers and the scarlet and browns of autumn leaves.
In fashion, colors come and go. In the past black was generally a color related to death. These days it’s a fashion statement. I’ll admit I often dress my characters in black and I do have a couple of black items in my wardrobe but generally I’m all about the color. Wearing color makes me smile. Even our little dog has a blue collar. Her new basket is black but it’s adorned with a picture of Snoopy in his kennel and it says “Sleeping is an art.” She looks so dang cute sleeping in it I can forgive her the black.
Here’s a color quiz for you to take. Interestingly I came out with green.

Your dominant hues are cyan and green. Although you definately strive to be logical you care about people and know there’s a time and place for thinking emotionally. Your head rules most things but your heart rules others, and getting them to meet in the middle takes a lot of your energy some days. Your saturation level is medium – You’re not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it’s required of you. You probably don’t think the world can change for you and don’t want to spend too much effort trying to force it. Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation. |
Along with blue, I like all colors pastel since they suit my coloring, and I quite like brown since it goes with denim. My favorite jeans are a darkwash blue.
Tell me what your favorite colors are and which colors you tend to wear most. You’re allowed to say black – really, you are. Did you score your favorite color on the quiz? What color are your favorite jeans or trousers?

Oh what a cool quiz, Shelley!!! I WANTED RED, dang. I got hot pink is that red enough?
Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can’t leave behind. You can influence others on days when you’re patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

by Red February 12th, 2008 at 7:02 amI like blues, too. And other cold tones like blueish greens, lavender, violet, and some grey and white. Black can be very elegant combined with an unusual necklace or shawl.
I have some browns in my wardrobe, and a bit red and salmon, but I wear those things less often.
by Gabriele February 12th, 2008 at 8:04 amWhah, I wanted to be brown. I got sea green.
by Alice Audrey February 12th, 2008 at 8:50 amHere’s what I am:
Your dominant hues are green and blue. You’re smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people’s conflicts well.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people’s. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You’re not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up
I love pink and blue. I always love burgundy. But my main wardrobe item is pink or pastels seems to suit my dark hair. But green really goes well with me, any shade of green really.
I love colour too, colour makes me happy!
by Amy Ruttan February 12th, 2008 at 12:34 pmMy favorite color is purple. this is what I gotlavender

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You’re good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.
Your saturation level is very low – you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you’re working.
Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

by Estella February 12th, 2008 at 4:28 pmGabriele – I think we’d match quite well if we stood next to each other since we like similar colors.
Red – hot pink is sort of red
by Shelley Munro February 12th, 2008 at 4:39 pmAlice – it seems like a lot of us are green. You’re in good company!
Amy – we’d match as well since I have quite a bit of pink.
Estella – lavender. You’re matched then since purple is your favorite. It’s an interesting quiz to do.
by Shelley Munro February 12th, 2008 at 4:42 pmI am a dark orange. My dominant hues are red and yellow. The good part is that I’m “all about getting things done.” My “outlook on life is bright” and I am “sunny and optimistic.” I got the tone it down if you sense irritation, too. I don’t even like orange. I wanted to be a blue. Oh Well.
by Janet H February 12th, 2008 at 7:06 pmJanet – ah, well. We can start a “I wanted to be blue” club.
by Shelley Munro February 12th, 2008 at 7:43 pmI’m a sucker for a quiz! I posted my results on my own blog – but I’m a spring green. Not a color I would have said was a favorite necessarily but the rest of the description wasn’t so far off base :)
by Jenyfer Matthews February 13th, 2008 at 1:25 amWhat a fascinating quiz. I’m light steel blue -it was pretty accurate!!
